Meet Tootie

Tootie (or Toot McFroot, according to her brother) lives in Syracuse, New York where she owns a popular restaurant with her husband, Dan.

When she’s not working or writing stories, she loves traveling, gardening, and most of all, playing with her grandchildren.

Who was Tootie as a kid?

The youngest of seven children, bashful, a little quirky, but kinda cute

What was your favorite book?

My father would read me Uncle Remus Stories using different, funny voices for each character. I got such a kick out of that.

What was your first word?

“Batman.” Seriously. Not that I personally remember this, but legend has it.

What’s your favorite cereal of all time?

Quisp. Hands down.

What were you afraid of?

Quicksand (from watching too much Gilligan’s Island), wild boars (from something else I watched– proof that reading is so much better for you) and escalators– they still terrify me.

Who was your best friend?

Shar and I were inseparable beginning at age four. I still treasure her so.

Share a great sibling memory.

I loved doing puzzles or playing cards with my brothers and sisters.

Were you afraid of storms?

I loved sitting on my mom’s front porch, protected from the rain, but watching as it approached. Sometimes, as the temperature dropped, I would snuggle under a blanket to watch nature’s show.

What was your favorite TV show?

The Galloping Gourmet. I would pretend I was sick so I could stay home to watch it

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I dreamt of being a writer. Hey, wait…
